Antwerp is a city of flats, narrow streets and a Ring road that is rarely quiet. Hauling two suitcases and a carry-on to Antwerp Central Station to catch a train to the airport is no fun, especially at five in the morning or with young children. And if you drive yourself, you pay for parking and still have to tackle the Kennedy Tunnel after a long flight.

With GateRide, you simply get in outside your home, whether that is in Borgerhout, the Zuid, Mortsel or Schoten. Your driver loads your luggage and takes you all the way to the departures hall, with no changes. The price is fixed in advance for your town and does not change when the Ring is gridlocked or yet another diversion pops up around the Oosterweel works. No meter, no pickup surcharge, no extra charge for luggage: you pay cash on the day of the ride.

From Antwerp to Brussels, Schiphol and Eindhoven

Most people in Antwerp fly from Brussels Airport (Zaventem). Your driver usually takes the E19 towards Mechelen and the Brussels Ring, or the A12 when that is quicker from the south of the city. On the map it looks like a short hop, but the morning rush around Kontich and Mechelen-Noord is notorious, so your pickup time is always planned with a comfortable margin.

Antwerp is close to the Netherlands, and that shows in the choice of airport. Via the E19 towards Breda and Rotterdam, Amsterdam Schiphol is the logical option for long-haul flights or airlines that do not serve Brussels. Eindhoven Airport is reached via the E34 through the Kempen – handy for low-cost destinations. Charleroi, Düsseldorf, Cologne Bonn and Liège are options too: the price table shows the fixed fare from your town to each airport.

Linkeroever, the north and the port

Live on Linkeroever (the left bank) or in Zwijndrecht? Then your ride goes under the Scheldt, through the Kennedy Tunnel or the Waasland Tunnel. The Kennedy Tunnel in particular can clog up badly in the morning or during roadworks. Your driver factors that into the schedule, so you need not worry about a tailback under the river.

In the north – Ekeren, Kapellen or Brasschaat – you are straight onto the E19 heading north, which makes Schiphol especially attractive. Work in the port or in an office along the Ring? After a business trip you can be dropped off right at work. A receipt is available on request, including in your company’s name.

Your own driver in a busy city

In a city where it is easy to get lost among one-way streets and roadworks, it is reassuring to know who will be at your door. Every ride is driven by the owner himself. You send a booking request, which he reviews personally and confirms by email. Only then is your ride confirmed.

On your return, your driver waits for you in the arrivals hall. Waiting time after landing is included in the price. If your flight is delayed, just let your driver know by phone or with a WhatsApp message.

Frequently asked questions

Airport transfers in Antwerp

Do I need to register for Antwerp’s low-emission zone?

No. Your driver makes sure the car is allowed into the LEZ. You do not need to register or pay anything.

Is Schiphol a good choice from Antwerp?

For many Antwerp residents, yes – especially for long-haul flights. The route runs via the E19 through the Netherlands. Allow plenty of time, as traffic around Breda and Rotterdam can be heavy. The fixed fare to Schiphol is shown in the price table on this page.

What if the Kennedy Tunnel or the Ring is jammed?

Your price stays the same: there is never a surcharge for traffic jams or diversions. Do build some extra margin into your pickup time, though, especially if you leave during the morning rush.

Do you also cover the districts and surrounding towns?

Yes. From Hoboken and Merksem to Edegem, Kontich, Schoten and Kapellen: enter your town or postcode in the price calculator and you will see the fixed fare to each airport straight away.

How do I pay, and can I get a receipt?

You pay your driver in cash on the day of the ride. There is no online payment and no deposit. A receipt is available on request, including in a company name.

Prefer to call or send a message?

For custom rides, large groups or questions: you’ll talk to the driver directly.
