Book your ride to Düsseldorf Airport
Düsseldorf Airport is the largest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia and a mainstay for holiday flights. German tour operators and airlines fly from here to the Mediterranean, the Canary Islands and beyond, often on a route or departure day you cannot find in Belgium. No wonder more and more Belgians book their package holiday or ticket via Düsseldorf.
That just leaves getting there and back. With GateRide you do not have to worry about it. Your driver, the owner himself, picks you up at your front door, loads your suitcases and takes you straight to the departures hall. The price for your town is fixed in advance: the drive to you, luggage, traffic delays and VAT are all included. No pickup surcharge and no meter. You pay in cash on the day.

The route to Düsseldorf
From most of Belgium the drive follows the E40 past Leuven and Liège to the border near Aachen, then continues on the German motorways to Düsseldorf, whose airport lies just north of the city. If you live in the Kempen or northern Limburg, the route via Venlo may be shorter. Your driver picks the best road on the day.
Roadworks and congestion around the big German cities are nothing unusual, so plan with a generous margin: choose a pickup time that gets you to the airport two to three hours before departure, allowing for the travel time shown in the price table. Leaving in rush hour or at the start of the German school holidays? Allow a little extra.
Drop-off and pickup at Düsseldorf
On the way out, your driver drops you in front of the departures hall, as close as possible to the entrance for your flight. If your travel documents say where to check in, mention it in your request.
For the way back, book a ride ‘From the airport’ with your flight number. Choose a pickup time about 45 minutes after landing for a Schengen flight, or about an hour if you are arriving from outside Schengen, for example from Turkey or Egypt. Free waiting time is included. Your driver does not track your flight automatically, so if it is delayed, let him know by phone or WhatsApp.
Why take a taxi to Düsseldorf?
By train, getting to Düsseldorf from Belgium soon becomes a journey in itself, with changes and suitcases on platforms. By car, you pay for parking in Germany for every day of your holiday, and after a night flight you still have to drive all the way back. A family with suitcases, child seats and perhaps a pushchair travels far more comfortably in one car going door to door. Child seats are free while available, and the price is per ride, not per person.
Who chooses Düsseldorf?
Mainly travellers from Limburg, the Kempen, the Liège area and the East Cantons, for whom Düsseldorf is a manageable drive. But people in Antwerp, Leuven or Brussels also book holidays departing from Düsseldorf because the destination, the departure day or the price of the trip suits them better. GateRide operates throughout Belgium: your driver comes to you, wherever you live.
