Namur grew up where the Sambre flows into the Meuse, and it is still a crossroads today. The E411 runs north to Brussels and south to the Ardennes, while the E42 links the Walloon capital with Charleroi to the west and Liège to the east. That puts no fewer than three Belgian airports within easy reach. Further south the landscape turns rural: the Meuse valley towards Dinant, the Condroz plateau and the villages around Ciney and Philippeville.

That is exactly where getting to an airport by public transport becomes a puzzle, especially with suitcases and children. With GateRide there is nothing to piece together. Your driver comes to your address, even in a small hamlet or at a holiday cottage, loads the luggage and drops you at the departures hall. The price is fixed in advance for your town. No pickup surcharge, no meter and no extra charge when the E411 is busy.

From Namur: Charleroi, Brussels or Liège

For many people in Namur, Brussels South Charleroi Airport at Gosselies is the nearest airport. Your driver takes the E42 towards Charleroi, past Sambreville and Fleurus, without going through a single town centre. Ideal for a low-cost flight to the sun.

For scheduled and long-haul flights, you head for Brussels Airport (Zaventem). The route follows the E411 north past Gembloux and Wavre, then the eastern side of the Brussels Ring. The Ring can clog up quickly in the morning rush, so choose a generous pickup time. Live in Andenne or the east of the region? Liège Airport at Bierset is an option too, via the E42. The price table shows the fixed fare for each airport.

Dinant, the Upper Meuse and the Condroz

Between Namur and Dinant the road winds along the Meuse, beneath the cliffs of Profondeville and past the gardens of Annevoie. It is a lovely drive, but not the quickest way to an airport. Your driver therefore often takes the E411 across the plateau and only follows the valley when it is flowing better at that hour. From Philippeville or the southern Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse, the usual route is the N5 straight towards Charleroi.

Many visitors stay here in a gîte or holiday home. Landing at Brussels or Charleroi for a week in the Ardennes? Book a ride from the airport to where you are staying. The price depends on the municipality the property is in, not on how far it lies from the main road.

Travelling as a family

Request a baby seat, child seat or booster seat free of charge when you book, subject to availability. The number of passengers and bags that fit is shown as you book. A bike, golf bag or wheelchair can come along by prior arrangement; the same goes for pets, while assistance dogs are always welcome. Your request is reviewed personally by the owner, who is also your driver, and confirmed by email. You pay in cash on the day.
