Book your ride to Köln Bonn Airport
Cologne Bonn Airport (Köln Bonn) lies between the two cities, on the south-eastern side of Cologne, and for many people in Belgium it is the nearest German airport. It offers a mix of low-cost flights for city breaks and holiday flights heading south, sometimes with destinations or departure days not available from Belgium. From the east of the country in particular, the drive is surprisingly straightforward: you essentially follow the E40 across the border.
With GateRide you get in and out of the car at your own front door. Your driver, the owner himself, loads your luggage and takes you straight to the terminal. The price for your town is fixed in advance, with the drive to you, luggage, traffic delays and VAT included. No pickup surcharge, no meter. You pay in cash on the day.

The E40: a straight line to Cologne
From Brussels, Leuven, the Hageland, Sint-Truiden, Liège or Verviers the route is simple: the E40 towards Aachen, across the border and on along the German A4 to Cologne, where you cross the Rhine towards the airport. From Limburg you join via the E313 or E314; from the Kempen, sometimes via Dutch Limburg.
Around Aachen and Cologne, traffic can grind to a halt at rush hour, and roadworks are a fact of life in Germany. So choose a pickup time that gets you to the airport two to three hours before departure, allowing for the travel time shown in the price table.
Drop-off, pickup and waiting
Cologne Bonn has more than one terminal. Mention your airline in your request and your driver will drop you at the right departures hall.
On your return, book a ride ‘From the airport’ with your flight number. Choose a pickup time about 45 minutes after landing for a Schengen flight, or about an hour if you are arriving from outside Schengen. Free waiting time is included. Your driver does not track flights automatically, so if you are delayed, send him a WhatsApp message or give him a call.
Cologne or Düsseldorf?
Torn between the two big Rhineland airports? From Liège, Verviers, Eupen and southern Limburg, Cologne Bonn is usually closer. From the Kempen and northern Limburg, Düsseldorf is sometimes more convenient. The easiest way to decide is to compare the fixed prices and travel times in the price table. Whichever you choose, the price is per ride, not per person, and child seats are free while available.
Why not the train or your own car?
Taking the train to Cologne is possible, but with changes, heavy suitcases and an early flight it is no fun, especially if you first have to get to a major station. Leaving your car at the airport for your whole holiday and driving home yourself after a late landing is not ideal either. With a fixed door-to-door price you know in advance what you will pay. GateRide operates throughout Belgium, from the East Cantons to the coast: your driver comes to you.
